The first two pictures are from last year. In January of this year, I weighed 359 pounds.
The last three are from today, at 278 pounds, 81 less than I weighed before.
I've still got a long ways to go, but I'm definitely getting there! Thank you to everyone here who has and continues to encourage me.
All comments are welcome and appreciated.

Nick, fantastic! You are looking good!!! Nice smile there too.
I just told my husband about you. Maybe he'll get inspired. He's currently in the 350's and has resumed working out several days per week but hasn't made a lot of traction just yet. I sure will be happy when he loses 81 pounds!

Great job! You look so much better.
The best part about this section of the forum, is whenever you get down on yourself. You can come to your post, see your accomplishments and move forward. I was doing just that when I came across yours.
I hope you continue on and I am looking forward to seeing more pics in the future.

Howdy Nick,
Back in the late 70's I was probably up in the 270-280 range.. I had something like a 46-48" waist. I was running myself literally to death. One day I woke up and said thats it... threw everything in my abode in the trash that was edible, and just changed my diet and started running as hard and as far as I could. Kept it up for a long time.. but, literally within a couple months I had lost most of my bulk. I was reducing at a rate of almost a pound a day... I continued until getting down to a 28" waist and maybe 150#. Ever since then, this has been a struggle. Lifelong. Main thing now, I pay attention to when I see the bad eating patterns start up again and get back into a maintenence mode as quickly as possible. It's real easy to get out of the good habits... especially around holidays or when things are going rough... imagine that... We all know when/why we're doing it but, we do it anyways...
You're fighting a great fight and I can see you're diggin the heck out of it. Keep up the great work! It's working well for you. Thx for your tips and advice to me as well.
How are you doing today? I'd enjoy your update.

Hey, BT!
My last official weigh-in was 252 pounds, so I'm still making good progress.
My measurements have went down everywhere, but not as much in my gut. My waistline is still between 48-50", whereas my hips are almost down to the bone at 41.5".
It's funny, though, when I put on a size 42" jeans on my waist, I let my gut out fully, and it's not really tight. I have to wear a belt when I go out or they will fall down. I tried on a 38" yesterday and they fit pretty well.
Wow...a 28 inch waist. That doesn't even sound attainable for me, because I was over 300 pounds for almost 10 years straight. I'm not expecting to have a flat stomach, either, but that's OK, because I don't plan to have anybody to impress.
Good luck to you too, BT!

| I think the gut is the hardest place to lose it. Seems like it the last place to go. I still have mine, but I will get rid of it. I just try like crazy everyday to work on it and get the last bit to go away.

OK, time for some new pictures!
My last official weigh-in was 219 pounds, and these pictures are as of today.
I think my sister was telling me a joke in this one:

Here's me and my uber-cool garage door:

Here's my best friend about to give me a kiss:

Finally, here is a pic of my nephew and I. This is actually my favorite picture in the bunch:

It's amazing what someone can accomplish in 9 months.
Downward ho!

A re-birth, eh? I didn't even think of that. Good analogy. I do feel like a different man.
Thanks for the comment about my nephew. He is a very cute, rambunctious little fellow.

Quite a journey it has been so far, says I.
Wow! You look great! You should post some pictures with you wearing less lol!
Hmm...one day, I might post a shirtless one, but that will not be for quite some time, if applicable, LOL.
However, I have this uncanny feeling that "shirtless" was not quite what you had in mind, but rather a reference to a different article of clothing, or perhaps even multiple articles. In dividing the body up into three sections, I find that my face is perhaps the best section, followed by my lower section, with my upper section coming in at a notable third. In light of this, you can feasibly expect to see my legs in said upcoming picture, but in the spirit of family values, you are not apt to see much more than that, lest you use your imagination.
Oh wow, I need sleep. Have a nice day n stuffz.

Nick,
Just wanted to add my congrats! You are doing so awesome!
So, I've gotta ask..............do you feel like a different man? Can you believe the difference in energy? How about when you are walking down the street, and catch a glance of your reflection in the store windows? And the thing I found, was that when I went shopping, I still went to the "Women's/Plus" section! It's taken me several years for my mental image to catch up with my physical image. I wonder if that's normal?
Will keep checking your progress............and looking for new pics!

Thanks, Hisgal!
I definitely do feel like a different man!
Energy levels are the same as when I was 359, and even lower on some days. I'm hoping this will level out with time.
I like what my reflection shows, much more than what it used to show. I still see a big guy, but he is a less big guy.
I'm reminded of my weight loss, too, every time I pull out my ID, which was issued in 2005. Big difference!
I think what you are experiencing is perfectly normal. My brain has not fully caught up, either. Looking at the pictures has helped it to catch up a bit more, but I still see a fat person. Of course, clothes do hide many things, and I still have much more work to do.
Thanks again!

| I think the same thing, when I get my id out. Can't wait to get another one. I always think, man was I fat, lol. Thank god, I lied about my weight, so that doesn't show a huge difference.

What is wrong with wanting to appreciate a beautiful physique in all its glory? That's not gutter, that's just like---well, like appreciating art. Like Michelangelo's David. Or something like that!
And I DIDN'T mean like I really want to see penis, I just meant something more like boxers, something that shows off the body, that's all. Frankly, I don't think c*** shots are all that sexy in the first place...

Yes, I know that. I was just teasing. I say some pretty crazy things when I'm tired. I can't speak for Cindy, of course, but I think she was teasing, too.
On a side note, I wish I looked like Michaelangelo's David!
Actually, most of my stretch marks and loose skin are from the belly button down, which are covered by my pants, since I wear them at the belly button. I just might post a shirtless pic here soon. It might be useful, too, to have a picture of my upper area as it looks now, before I start strength training, so I can use it as a measure of progress.
Thanks for your encouragement.

Well, STRAYLIGHT...
I'm going to post a shirtless pic of myself. I hate it, because I look so much better with clothes ON.
Still, I already know that I'm far from perfect. Despite that, it's much better, though, than what it was before, and I will keep working on improving myself. I'll never be an Adonis, but I will keep trying to get as close as I can.

All comments, encouragement, and criticism are welcome.

CA, I came to your site because I need inspiration today. Thanks so much! I'm trying to get back on track!
I think you look great!
I will tell you a little secret from an older woman. I think every body and every thing looks good with a good wash job and a little paint. I am so thankful our society wears clothes so I can hide what I want to and show off what I want to. It's called "the art of dressing."
I get up looking like #%@&! every morning. Then I get washed, painted, and dressed. Then I look in the mirror. I put on a great pair of sunglasses and become a legend in my own mind as I walk out the door to greet the world.
That is just how I like it!
Thanks again for being there! Have a great day!

Oh, my. Nick, especially given where you started, you look great. You might not be perfectly happy with everything yet, but it's obvious from that pic that you are probably going to lose any drooping you're unhappy with and even without weight training you've got a little definition. Since I fully expect you to get as addicted to weights as you are to cardio you are really going to see some great differences.
And good for you for being so brave. (There is a part of me that would like to have some tasteful, arty pictures taken, I just don't have the courage. Yet.)

Hey, the chest and shoulders look great! Very strong! You're getting there and already it's paid off so much.
I am glad we have clothes too, I wouldn't want to have everything all hanging out all the time, although i guess of course it everyone was nude all the time it would be different because we wouldn't know any better.

Hi Nick,
Now I am not just saying this to stroke your ego, but I really do think you look great and a lot better than you think you look. At the end of my pregnancy I was 250lbs and by the time I got back down to 170lbs (my pre pregnancy weight) I had A LOT more loose skin than you do on your stomach so I think you are very lucky in that respect.
I am really glad that you posted this pic (not just that we can oogle you) but it show and honest and real depiction of how fabulous you can look after loosing that much weight. Lots of people are scared to lose weight because they are scared of loose baggy skin but your picture proves that it doesn't happen to everyone.
Thanks for posting.

Now I feel guilt!
Technically speaking, my "stomach" looks good, if you are referring to the area where my waistline is, which is a couple of inches or so above where I'm wearing my pants in the picture.
Now...if you want to talk about the area below the belly button (my hips), it is in considerably worse shape. Since I wear pants and shorts at the belly button, though, it's not as apt to show, and I know that I'm fortunate in that regard.
Still, though, I did lose the weight fast, and I have my age in my favor. A lot of it might stretch back in time. If you would like, I can show you what my hips look like now.
Thanks for the comment, BTW.
