Okay, when I joined here in the winter I was stuck at 150. (this was after a 50 pound loss) Now I am at 144 thinking I have hit a plateau...well I do a thorough workout 3-5 times a week and I noticed the other day that I look different.

1.) I have arm muscles! All of them, front, back, top, bottom!

2.) Stomach looks different (flabby part is pulling up)

3.) Thigh muscles are becoming more defined in the front.

4.) That part of the leg by the knee no longer has a little fat pad when I bend my leg!

I am soooo encouraged by this!  So to anyone who thinks it is all in vain....don't give up!  It takes lots of time and hard work!

Hey Calleigh! The best advice I can give you is to just make up your mind and do it!  I started by making a decision to cut out sugary drinks and started exercising slowly. I bought a mini trampoline at first.  It jump started everything!  I saw a few pounds loss within the first 2 weeks.  That was years ago.  Now I go to a gym.  If I can do it anyone can!

Congrats and thanks for the inspiration.  I made a realistic decision to lose weight over a month ago.  Really it's the first serious attempt I've made at this.  For anyone who is just getting started on weight loss, especially for weight that has accumulated from years and years of eating junk food and being inactive, I recommend a small change first.  A small change is much easier to stick to.  For example, a major weakness for me is Coca Cola.  I was taking in 4-5 cans a day so I worked it down to 2 a day.  Now I go entire days without them.  A day without my previous Coke intake is a difference of 600-700 empty calories of sugar.  It's amazing how bad vending machine "food" is for you and even more amazing that it's so easy to attain.  I never really thought about the fast food in detail until I researched it and couldn't believe I was doing that to my body, so I've basically sworn off it.  I started walking everyday for short periods and at a regular pace, but now do at least an hour for 3-3.5 mph.  I have to say it again, if you replace the sugary drinks with water and drink the required amount for yourself or close to it, you'll notice a big difference right away.  Cutting out Coke also meant cutting out caffeine for me so my body learned how to get tired normally so I sleep better.  Very important things for weight loss:  a healthy diet and an exercise program you can handle, lots of water, and good sleep.

Update: You know where the knee bends how the fat will bulge out on the sides.....well mine is no longer there!  I just noticed today. And my "saddle bags" are just a little less noticeable!  Yay!  Now if only my inner thighs would catch up with the outer!
