I owe my success to Weight Watchers...the third time I joined over the years did the trick : ) The Points Plan helped me lose my weight, the CORE Plan is my maintenance.
I lost 137 pounds in a year and a half and have kept it off for 5 years thanks to CORE.
I'm one of the lucky ones that love fruit and veggies. I no longer eat meat, I get my protein from fish, beans, tofu and soy products.
In the past year, I picked up the habit of an all out treat day every seven days. I now wish to break this routine because I'm totally out of control on my treat day. The other six days I have no problem, treat day I gave myself permission to eat whatever I wanted but I'm not happy with that anymore so my goal is to break free and keep my focus on healthy eating, while teaching myself a treat food once in awhile doesn't have to spell binge.
I do a 20 min workout each morning on my Gazelle. I'm 61 , I find the Gazelle perfect for me as there is no impact to my joints.
I feel better, have more energy than I ever had in my life and I like myself now. Each time in the past that I tried and failed numerous diets I'd beat myself up so badly it was pitiful. Such a relief to feel ok about me. I don't focus on body image, Mother Nature and years of unhealthy yo-yo dieting made that a non issue, but I'm ok with the fact I'm aging because of how good I feel.
Thanks to all who share and care!

What a wonderful accomplishment! Congratulations!
I have adopted the policy of a 6 day good boy, 7th day bad boy mentality, too. It's difficult to break, but I know you can do it.
Thanks, too, for showing what can be done at any age, with enough dedication. You are an inspiration.

Thank you : ) You're right, age shouldn't matter, I've proven that to myself. I'm comfortable in my own skin for the first time in my life, it's well worth everything I do to maintain my healthy lifestyle.
On your "bad boy day " do you go out of control or keep it to a meal or one thing you've craved ?
My concern for me, even though I haven't gained any weight since I do the treat day thing, is the question of it being unhealthy to load myself up with carbs and fat even for just one day out of seven.
Life is a journey for sure !!! what to do? what to do ?

Thanks, Marg!
On my bad days, I have made it a habit to go completely out of control on a thing or two that I've really craved.
Like...I might eat pasta. Whole wheat pasta, lean ground beef, lower sodium sauce...all things that are healthy in moderation, except I don't really eat them in moderation...
As far as it being unhealthy to load your body up one day out of seven, I would say no, as long as you are able to get right back on track. It might even benefit your body to do so, by creating the "zig zag" effect, which helps your overall metabolism. Just keep things somewhat in perspective.

Hey, congrats Marg! No doubt about it, you rock!
And, if I were you, I'd try the treat thing one way then the other...then whatever way you think of until you find what works for you. You know yourself best! Unfortunately I can't tell you what works for me because I haven't mastered that part of my life yet.

Scribbler, I thank you once again I read your reply on the other board before this one, had asked how you handle treats...you told me here...oops !
Learning to handle our food addiction is a learning process that is never ending I've found out.
I'm probably one of the elders on the board so feel free anyone to learn from my past mistakes...I dieted myself fat for years.
Healthy eating and a daily exercise regime is the answer...if only I'd faced that reality long ago !
I wish you all the best in your struggle with food
