Welcome to CPH, Amy!

Based on your stats, your unadjusted RMR is 1928. This is how many calories your body burns daily just to survive, and is the recommended minimum number of calories that you eat daily. Because you have a decent bit to lose, you might be able to go down to about 75% of this number for a while, if you feel inclined to do so, which is 1446, but you should still take at least one day a week to spike them a bit past 1928.

Perhaps you could tell us a bit more about your diet and exercise level. We will be more than happy to help.

Good luck!

1200 calories is a bit too low for your weight. I recommend upping it to at least 1450, making sure to take at least one day a week to eat more than 1950.

It's great that you walk - aim for 3-5 days per week of exercise, if you don't already.

It's great you eat your veggies! Make sure you get fruits, whole grains, and good fats, also. The best diet is a well-balanced one.

The only other advice I know to give at this point is to stay away from foods with trans fat and corn syrup as much as possible. Stick with the natural foods, too - try to stay away from foods with artificial ingredients.

Keep us updated!

Hey Amy!

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. I can't begin to imagine how hard it's been for you.

As for the diet, I would advise you to lean into the changes that you make and to take it one step at a time. Try to walk 50 minutes when you can, or walk a bit faster. If you have foods you can't seem to stop eating, try eating less and less of them slowly.

And one last thing Amy. I once thought that if I lose weight I would be a happy person. But I found out that I was wrong. It's not the weight that makes us unhappy. It's the unhappiness that makes us overweight.

I really hope things will look up for you and you'll feel better :)

I just had to say, I totally agree with that. Great advise, thanks for sharing...
