Hi everyone!

Guess I'd better stop lurking and start sharing. AK_Snowbird recently joined this forum and sent me a pm from another verrrrry slooooow FL4I board to tell me about this site. I was embarassed to tell her I'd been slinking around in here reading all your posts for a long time now. Actually probably for at least 3 of my 4 cycles.

I have to tell you, this place you all have built here is so full of good information. I cannot imagine how I would have ever continued with this plan as long as I have without you.

I'm an old girl - 58. I need to get rid of about 15 pounds. Although 20 would be nice as well! Just in the last few years my usually active metabolism has put on the skids. I put it to age, inactivity due to an arthritic back, change of BP meds., and an increasing love of food (!). As of this a.m. I have lost 4.6 of those pounds, this last cycle being the most successful with a loss of 3.2 pounds. (For which I give myself a gold star :star:!)

My husband and I have been eating a healthy, low-glycemic diet for many years now. It has served to get my cholesterol down and kept us both very healthy. I just needed something to jumpstart my metabolism. And the FL4I seems to be working, albeit much slower than for many others.

All that said, I guess you're stuck with me for a while. I look forward to many interesting conversations.

Cheers!
Annie

Thanks for the welcome, Val!

Lynnwood is over by Seattle. We're about 230 miles inland from there, south and east of Yakima. We're in high desert and sometimes get no rain for months. Right now it's really hot here. 103 today and 105-107 expected tomorrow. I have two Shar-Peis and they keep looking at me, wondering when they can get to go for a good long run again. Not any time soon I'm afraid!

I will definitely go over to General Discussion soon. I have gleaned so much knowledge from these folks - they're great!

Have a good weekend!

I found this site after i found the fl4i site because I wanted to find out more info. See if it really works or not. You all seem so awesome, friendly caring and helpful. So anyway, I have been looking all over at everyones results and strugels and it totaly looks like it could be worth it if I work hard, now I just have to convince my hubby to let me spend the money and that I will not just be wasting it. But since I think I will be able to do that it might just take a little bit I will introduce my self.

I am 28 years old and have almost always been a little over weight. With the ups and downs of marriage the past 8 years has seen to a consistant up in my weight. I have dieted on and off over the years just not very important to me. Although th inceasing numbers on the scale depressed me to no end. About 2 weeks ago i hit my highest weight ever. I am 5'2" and 251 lb.  and  I carry it  below my waist and my chest  (that the one thing I don't want to loose, I am perfectly happy with it and I am alittle scared  to loose it)   I am not realy that active, I nanny for the cutes 2 year old but I am biased because he is also my neiphew ( sorry aboyt the post he is curently taken one of my armes hostage while we snuggel watching a movie, so this is mostly a one handed posst)  I thnk that I wold like to loose about 120 lb. but I would be happy even loosing 100 lb.. I feel different this time around. I have so manny health problems all ready that i dont need to add any more from weight issues and some of the ones i do have may improve with weight loss.  Well movie is over it's time to go play. I hope I get to now you all better and I hope I can talk hubby into letting me try one more thing yet again.

Hi Betsey. I'm glad you posted. A 112 pound loss was my goal and since march I have lost 61 of those pounds. If you can be dedicated and just eat what the menu says, I know you can have great success on this diet!

Hello all...after lurking around on the forums for over a month...I felt it was time to buck up and actually join these great discussions!!

My mom and I are actually doing FL4I together and we are half way through our 3rd cycle...day 5 to be exact! The first cycle I lost about 7-ish pounds and then on my second cycle...I lost what I'd gained on my 4 days off(4 instead of 3 because we were at a famliy reunion) and found myself at the exact same weight two ends of cycle weigh-ins in a row...a bit discouraging...as my mom continued to lose...but! I am staying on this because I know it works!!

Oh and I read somewhere on here that you can have vegatables with meals...even if it doesn't list vegatables for that meal? Is that okay? Because it sure would help!!!

So, just wanted to say hi...I feel like I already know you all to a certain degree just from reading all your posts!!

Hi everybody here:)

Wow, seems like this is a vast site, couldn't even read a quarter of it, though I only just joined this morning. Will be spending a lot of time here I think.:)

I am on day 8 of my first cycle and I am quite chuffed as I have lost about 5 lbs so far. I don't feel hungry, which is brilliant, it seems like a great diet so far.;)

I am 5'5" and I am 156 lbs - well I was at the beginning of the cycle. I would like to lose 16 lbs, maybe a bit more, will see how I  can manage. I only have 16 lbs to go now but when I started Cambridge Diet UK in March, I weighed a whopping 210 lbs!!! I did very well on the diet but I came to a stand still so I thought I would give this a go and seems to be working.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and wish everybody good luck.:)

Hi everyone. I found this forum this morning and am loving it! My mom, my bro, and I are all on FL4I and have been losing more than a pound every day. I lost 5.6lb last 4 days and I haven't had any cravings!! My brother lost 8lb last 4 days but then he is much more overweight than me and my mom. Right now, I feel that this diet is way too good to be true and I'm afraid I'll wake up on my bed any minute. I really wanted to go back to school(as a senior in HS!) having lost weight this summer but was feeling miserable because I ended up gaining few pounds instead. And then 2 weeks before sept 2nd, I find this! Can't believe my luck. I hope it will go as well as people on this forum say. My goal is 115lb. 17lbs to go! (I miscalculated and wrote 27lb. Now that I corrected it, I'm more motivated than ever!)

Hi Annie,

And thanks for your kind words. I already feel much better.:)

I do remember reading your posts, well, someone called Annie.:) You are right, this forum does seem more active, it's a bit strange why the other one is so quiet. Nothing happens there for days on end.

Mindy, I know how you feel. I have been looking for an alternative to my previous diet as well for about a month and I've only just found FL4I. Still better than never.:) Your losses sound wonderful, keep up the good work.:)

Have a good day everybody,

Ria

Welcome Mogra and Funnymoody:
Glad you found this forum, you will love it here, so many wonderful people helping each other.
For your questions,
Yes, there are some people from India and as Amj suggested, if you post your questions in General Discussion thread, you with get more and quick replies.

For your current questions:
"I looked at sample menu and it seems little tricky to find things like pinto beans, baked beans, soymilk, tofu ....."

For Pinto beans and baked beans, you can use black beans (whole urad dal), rajma i.e Kidney beans and mong beans.
soymilk is milk made from soya nuggets, if its hard to find where you live, then just dont choose it, instead choose regular milk. Tofu is paneer made of soya milk. You can use skim milk (reduced fat) milk paneer to replace cottage cheese and also tofu.

Soy chicken/beef are products available in US similar to soyabean pattie (just dont deep fry it- instead use non-stickpan and a few drops of oil).

Hope this helps,
Slim

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to post my progress and see how everyone was doing. There are alot of people I havent meet yet so hello to all and welcome. I started this diet to loose 30 pounds and just get in better shape. I look at it as a lifestyle change, because the book has so many tips that I can use my whole life. I like the fact that everything is ok in moderation is great and sooo true. I am currenty on day 7 of fat loss 4 idiots, this is my first cycle and I have had great progress im down 7lbs and still have 4 days to go. Today is pretty average I had a bowl of grapes for breakfast..will have turkey slices and milk for lunch, i replaced my peanuts and hard boiled eggs for a tuna sandwich hasnt made much diff but I wouldnt recommend it. We arent suppose to have bread, but im tired of eating it by itself. I will remove it off my list next cycle. I have alot more energy and I feel great. I will keep posting to let you know my progress.

Is there anyone on day 7 of FL4I??

Hey there all. I just found this forum by accident but can't stop reading it. Both my fiance and I are on this diet. We just started and are on day 7. So far I have lost 9 lbs and he has lost 10 lbs!!!!!! It is working incredibly well. Both of us have been sticking to it without cheating at all. The motivation for us is our wedding in February. My goal is to lose 50 lbs by then and I hope I can do it on this diet.

I read on another page someone mentioned a veggie chili. If anyone knows the recipe can you please let me know!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All...

I'm new to this forum.. So Happy I found you guys... I purchased the FL4I 5 days ago... I wish I would have gotten the BC as well... Just so I could have the option of seeing what would better work for me.

So far I have lost 3 pounds... I weigh 150.4... I was at 153.4 when I started... I'm 5'7" I would love to get down to 135. That's my goal.

I am a fan of ice cream and cookies... aka SUGAR! I would love to adopt healthier eating habits and not obsess over sweets or CONSTANTLY be obsessing over my weight.

I am 36 and I have always had a fast metabolism... But I am afraid that all my extreme dieting and food addictions/ eating disorders have taken their toll on me.

I have always been an extremist... All or nothing...

This is the first diet that I feel I have found a happy medium with this way of eating.

I struggle with an eating disorder and I am desperate to become healthy... I live in LA, so the pressure is a lot different here than most places.

I am not an "LA" girl, but I am a Cali girl. =)

My only concern about the FL4I is the lack of fiber.... I have seen that others have had these same thoughts... I have been addicted to laxatives in my life and know that they aren't the healthiest things for me.

I am looking forward to sharing my progress with you and looking forward to all of YOUR progress ~ YOUR INSPIRING PROGRESS!!!

No matter where we are in this world.. We are all in the same boat... Food has gotten the best of us.. some worse than others...

I just want to be healthy and have a healthy attitude/outlook when it comes to food.

I'm at my wits end to finally overcome my battle. I'm sick of the shame I feel knowing the food has a certain power over me... And that when I start eating... sometimes I can't stop :crying:

Bless you all....

Thanks for reading my thoughts.

YOUNG KALAN~ As a young child i was big. Not HUGE, but big. People teased me thorughout middle school, but i NEVER had a low self esteem. I didn't care what anyone had to say. I was always interested in drawing, dancing, and singing since I was five. My full name is Kalan Aaron Smith. In 7th grade my named was switched to Aaron Kalan Smith ( hints the nickname AK(first and middle name initials)), but becaus everyone ept refering to me as Aaron Carter, it was switched back to Kalan Aaron Smith LOL!!!

HIGH SCHOOL KALAN~ I have always had a good head on my shoulders and try my best in school. im just a laid back type of person who likes to hang out with friends and crack a lot of jokes. I joined a lot of clubs such as BSU( Black Student Union) which is a club that does a lot of community service. I also joined Link crew( who helps out incoming freshman) and was in a leadership class( which pretty much directs school events and mak sure everything goes well. On the side of that, I kept up with my singing, doing many performances and also danced.(krumping to be exact) where i went by the name of Brotha Ak, Kasi, or K9 and i did many performances wih that also.

COLLEGE KALAN~ I currently am a freshman at San Joaquin Delta College planning to major in Computer Networking and Security, and minor in music. I play the keyboard and drums, and plan on learning how to play the guitar, sax, and many other instruments. I have a girlfriend that I met Sept. 20, 2007 while in summer school. She's has been with me ever since through ups and downs and till this day, we are happy to have each other. I also currently work at Jamba Juice and have been for 8 months( or somewhere aroudn that) Still, at this moment I am big. Im a 17 year old African American male who weighs 240 llbs and plan to lose at laest 30 by November 18th, which is my birthday. I don't really look THAT big(with clothes on) but believe me I am. lol But yea, im really just a lais back person who can take a joke and dish them out and Im very understanding and love to listen.

AK, Foxy, Genika, Joy and Changed ...a big welcome to you all...you are in the right place to finally find success in dropping the extra weight and establishing healthy eating patterns!  This way of eating(WOE) really curbs cravings and brings sanity back to eating:tongue:  You will lose fat...sometimes even when the scale is not moving soooo...measure yourselves...chest, waist , hips, upper arms, thighs...and choose a shirt and pants that are very snug now and try them on after each cycle to see how you are progressing.  Most of us find that we are slimmer/smaller sizes  at even higher weights than we have been in the past because of the fatloss!!  You will find alot of laughs, support, tips and help on the discussion forum and good simple recipe ideas in the recipe thread...we are all:grin::tongue::yum::cool:  in this together and share our ups and downs!  Glad to have you with us!!
You will love this plan and this place!!  Thanks so much for sharing your stories!!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself.
I am female, 52, married 29 years with 14 year old twin boys and I have "let myself go", as my mother would have said :nono:
In the last 10 or so years, I have piled on too many pounds. I must be sitting down more than I thought. I have a very busy life as an innkeeper. That means for 8 months out of the year I am at work 24/7 and I eat whenever I see food, on the run all day long. I am a grazer.A few weeks ago I was cruising the internet and saw the add for FL4I and clicked to see what it was all about. I bought the plan, because nothing else would help and because the menu looked fantastic. All the foods I like, nothing outrageous about it.
I have lost, as of this morning 23 pounds and I am on my third round.
The cheat days make me want to stay on the plan, I don't miss my usual bad things, I don't even taste the food that I cook for my people (I am a "gourmet cook". I don't even buy mayonaise, because I can make my own) I am doing great.
errr.....I hope this isn't too boring. I didn't realize I was suffering from diahrea of the mouth this morning

have a great day everyone, ra-ra *insert cheerleader smiley*

Hi,

I am on day 8 of my first cycle. I am 5 pounds down. Does anyone know if you can sub cashews for macadamia nuts. I ran out and don't want to buy more because I have cashews left still. Please let me know what you all think! Thanks!

Hi All!

I have just bought the online generator and book after reading so many good things about the diet online. I have been dieting since November of 2007 and so far nothing I have tried has given me good or permanent results. I have at least 40 lbs to lose and I am hoping that this will finally be the plan to get me there!! I am starting the diet on Monday (going shopping tomorrow for the food!) Congratulations to everyone who has seen results and good luck everyone!

Welcome Azza and  Aly....we do not sell the diet on our site...you can look on Ebay or google the name...it is called   fatloss4idiots     ....there are many sites that sell it online.  We are a global group and have purchased it from many sources.

You can use the same program for both of you...no need to purchase two....just each generate menus of your own choices or choose the same menu to follow....either way you can generate endless menu combinations for both of you.

I've been peeking into this site for a couple of years. I'm finally introducing myself after having had some luck with FL4I last year (maybe 15 lbs) which I regained after having sprained both of my ankles (same day different incidents) and taking a few vacations (crazy eating!). Enough of the excuses. I am on my 8th day of the 11 and have lost a very decent 5.4 lbs. I started at 144.6 lbs and I am 5'5. My initial goal at this point is to be 130 lbs after 4 cycles (8 weeks -14lbs may be over zealous for me but I'm willing to give it a go). I am a little nervous doing this during the holidays as this is the time of the year that I normally gain around 10 lbs, but I am hoping that utilizing this site will help me keep on the straight and "narrow". Any support will be a definate plus!

Hey all just introducing myself...

my name is swiss and i am 24yrs old from the bronx.  I have packed on some weight over the years.  i have a wife and a 8month old baby.  together we put on weight during the pregnancy.  before i started working out i was 180..now im 164.  cant seem to get the rest of the weight off so i decided to try this diet.  we run about 6 miles a few times a week, and i also lift weights in between.  my wife has also went down from pregnancy weight to 149.

my main concern about this diet is...am i going to loose body fat % or muscle %/bone density?  usually with fast loss diets you loose about 80% muscle/bone density and 20% body fat as opposed to the opposite long term diet.

today is my 2nd day on this diet and i went up 1.5lbs from yesturday :(

anyways thanks to all who read :)

Hi Sha we have a forum member who is an NLer who loves this plan!  You will find her on the discussion under BABS....she is on holiday presently.
Everyone must choose which plan works best for them...but we have all had great success with this one....and it is very portable for work or school meals. There is only bread on one day each 11 day cycle...the rest is beef, ham and poultry, fish, eggs, cheeses, veggies, fruits, beans, salads, oatmeal and frozen yogurt dessert.  After 11 days on the plan you have three days off to eat anything you want.
tot ziens!

Hi, my name is Goretti and I am new here.  I purchased this about a month ago, tried it for a couple of days and then my family did not help at all and sabotaged my efforts. However this time I am determined to succeed.

I am on day one of the diet.

I am abit confused though. :crying: Reading through the posts I have come across people saying there is more than one version of the diet.  Huh??  I thought I had got the latest one.

Also I read a few recipes which sound great but for example there was a fab one by a chef of eggs with salad.  I thought you could only have the eggs?  Can I add other things to my menu?  I have printed out 3 diets and for my eggs, the only thing I am allowed with them is ham or cashews.  Also there was alot of beans on the recipes?  I have only got pinto beans on my list of allowed (or choice available on the diet generator) beans.

Can someone explain these to me as I would like to make this as enjoyable as possible. That way I know I will stick to it.

Thanks.

Hi, can someone also help me with the water issue.  I do NOT like water.  And if its chilled, thats even worse.  I cant afford to buy bottled water as its about $2 per bottle (500mls) here in NZ and I hate tap water.  I drink decaf coffee or tea or lemonade usually.  I don't drink diet sodas etc as I think they are very unhealthy with the aspartame in them.  So my problem is, how am I going to drink so many glasses of water a day when I don't like it?  I have tried lemon or lime in it also.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Kia ora Glenlea.

Keep at the water. You can probably find a cheap water filter jug on Trademe or at The Warehouse which will save you $$$ in the long run. Get a water bottle and carry it with you EVERYWHERE. Aim to drink a glass when you first get up (before you wake up and realise what you are drinking ) then try to get a glass in every few hours. Build up to the ten glasses. Four for a couple of days, five the next etc etc. You will get used to water, eventually. If you drinking lemonade (I assume you mean Sprite type drink) then you drinking A LOT of wasted calories.

There are a couple of versions of the diet but they are essentially the same. You will have bought the new improved version

It is luck what combination of foods you get. Sometimes you will get eggs and salad at which point you can make that yummy recipe. I will quite often regenerate the plan till I get a majority of combinations I like.

Cheers

Joanne

Hello Glenlea and welcome!  Why don't you join us at the General Discussion thread where there are more people and you can get more help with your questions.  The water is VERY important, and I cannot stress this enough.  There is no getting around drinking it, and it is one of the things that MAKES this diet work so well.  You can drink tea, Crystal Light, or whatever form (under 10 calories) that help you to meet your daily quota.  But drinking the plain water is what will work best for your success.  So try to drink as much water as you can and then fill in the rest with the other forms mentioned.  I did not like water at all when I started this diet, so I totally can relate you how you feel.  But now, I drink 10 glasses a day without any problem.  I think Sunshine said she put vanilla extract in her water sometimes, and I personally can drink more if I have it with lemon.  I am sure you can find a way to work it out for you.

Also, if you read the list of condiments allowed, you can make your meals a bit more exciting.  Salsa is one of the allowed condiments so you can add that to your eggs, or chicken, etc.  BBQ sauce is another, etc., etc.  But if you need more help with the menu items so you can stick to the diet and make it work for you, please come to General Discussion thread, like I said, and we can all share with you things we have found to make things easier.  This diet is FANTASTIC, really!  Good luck and hope to see you in General Discussion soon!

Hi,  I'm another newbie.  I've just downloaded the program so haven't started yet.  Have to wait until payday to buy all this new food.  I'm only 5'2 and over 230 lbs.  Kids are long behind me but I'd like to be able to move with the grandchildren and show my dogs myself instead of hire a handler.  Big dogs - Otterhounds.  Puppy turned 8 months old today and she's already over 80 lbs.

One question I have, why only fresh fruit?  I live in Canada, it's winter!!  I'm not much of a fruit eater anyway, but love raspberries and they're not on the list.  Fruit day is going to be brutal.  Vegetable day will be easier than fruit day and I don't eat lots of those either, but at least they're more filling.

We've started a Biggest Loser contest at work which is why I've finally decided to really try something.  No willpower at all and I don't care what Dr. Phil says about that subject.

I've been reading the different topics, especially fruit day and I think you guys just might be able to help me.

Peggy
