I found some great DVD's for the treadmill if you have a TV in the room with your treadmill. They are put out by Vita Digital Productions. I purchased the British set with descriptions like, "Walk through 4 quaint English Villages" and "Walk from Eynsford to Shoreham, in Kent". I also bought one of the Italian series, Ravello to Atrani Virtual Walk.
The scenery is beautiful and the background sounds are natural sounds, but I listen to Andrea Bocelli playlist on my iPod for the Italian one. I plan to buy more in the future. Most of them are 1 hour, but there are some half hour ones as well. Walking on the treadmill has never been very interesting, but these DVD's make me feel like I'm walking in an exotic place and hold my interest. And with all the smoke in California this week it's just impossible to walk outdoors, so they're getting used.
They also have some at a faster pace for running and bike rides. I'm finding that the speed doesn't really matter that much, I can walk to the bike ride ones as well.
They have samples of each one on their site. Here is the site where you can find them: http://www.vitadigitalproductions.com/catalog/dvdlist.html
