I know cleaning can be good exercise, but I hate it. Everything about it.

I really hate dishes the most. I am sick of doing them everyday. I also hate floor care. vac & mop.

I even exercise just to avoid having to clean.

Anybody else hate cleaning?

oh yea, the bathroom cleaning, as far as I am concerned, is just gross. I think people should just clean up after themselves. There is no reason on this earth why someone should have to clean up after someone else poor potty habits.

And what is up with all those little nasty hairs in the bathroom? Are people shedding or what?

Sorry, just had to vent....

I hate cleaning also, you're not alone...  but that's a chore that needs to be done, yuck!

Me I need to be even more cleaner, since I run a cake decorating business at home.  I have two bathrooms, so double yuck.. but since one of the bathrooms is the "teens" bathroom, the "teens" clean it up!  I have to remind them often but at least it gets done, and I'm not the one doing it.

Despite being a bit of a clean freak, cleaning is not my favorite thing to do, but I have learned some things that really help.

#1 everyone has to rinse their dishes after using them, if someone doesn't rinse their dish they have to wash the whole load.  This saves so much time and it makes washing dishes a breeze (especially if someone else has to do them because they didn't rinse them).

#2 absolutely no shoes are allowed in my house. I still have to vaccuum and mop, but I have to do it a lot less without the shoes.

#3 everything has a place and everything gets put away after use.  My husband is especially bad about leaving dirty socks here or a newspaper there.  This stuff adds up and eventually it is a huge mess.  It takes a little training (even for yourself) but if you get into the habit of putting things away the second your done with them you minimize the time you have to pick up everything before you have to do things like vaccuum and mop.

#4 always take things with you wherever you go, clean as you go.  If you're in the living room and there's a dish in there, take it with you to the kitchen.  If you go in the bedroom and there's dirty laundry take it to the laundry room on your way out.  Your already going to these places you might as well make yourself useful as you go.

Also- glade makes an automatic toilet cleaner that I find really useful, it doesn't stop the kids from making a mess of the potty, but it does make it so you don't have to scrub the toilet bowl as often.  I keep a sponge in the shower, that way I can scrub while I'm in the shower I don't have to make an extra effort to clean the tub, I'm already there.  I also wait until everybody goes to bed to sweep and mop, then I'm not moving around anybody or only getting part done, I do it all at once.

I like to clean when I have the house to myself.  I crank up some tunes and get the laundry and the dishwasher going.  I splurge a bit on nice smelling products so everythng smells good when I'm done.  And I clean what I feel like cleaning, when I feel like cleaning it.  Sometimes it's really satisfying to have all my wood furniture gleaming and polished and smelling lemony.  And sometimes I just want all my windows to be clean, or surfaces to be wiped down.  I might spend 2 hours cleaning out the refrigerator and freezer when the floors haven't been mopped for 3 weeks.  So I do it to please myself.  But eventually everything gets done.  I have to give my husband credit too, he does his fair share-although I don't think he's ever cleaned the shower in his life.  But I haven't ever changed the oil either.

Hah, hate to say it to all you ladies but I LOVE cleaning, I'm a major clean freak. However, I only like cleaning when it's on my time and not when someone else says I should ('cause then it just feels forced) which is why I could probably never be a cleaning lady. I have to admit though, out of all the chores I do find dishes to be the most annoying - perhaps because you have to do them twice a day most of the time so it's a completely endless job it seems.

I like cleaning it is a great stress outlet.  You wouldn't know it from my house though.  Too busy with other things.  {Shrug}

I actually clean for a living! About 7 years ago I quit my full time cleaning job that I had had for 5 years. Well I was about 150 pounds...I ballooned up to 192 in a few months! Yikes! So I'd say yes it is a high calorie burner.  Luckily I am back down to 144 and have 7 houses that I clean on a regular basis.

I like doing the dishes and dusting, but that's about it.  As a result, my house looks like a tornado ran through the inside!

LOL, I wholeheartedly concur.

Not all of us are nasty in the bathroom, fortunately. I won't go into details, but if you have a messy accident, then clean it up! Many guys don't agree with me on this. :nono:

Being half Italian, I shed like the plague. Still, though, I clean the hairs from the shower after every use. I'm not the only one who has to use it, and I'm sure Grandma appreciates it.

I'm not a clean freak by any means, but I don't really make big messes, either. My room could use straightening up, though, and I am horrible about dusting. My nephew makes enough mess for all of us.

We don't have a dishwasher but I have never done the dishes  I am lucky to have a boyfriend that takes care of that for me as I HATE HATE HATE dishes.

Before we moved in together I told him I only expected him to do 4 things

1) The dishes

2) Cutting the grass

3) Peeling potatoes (I don't know why I hate this so much)

4) Changing the garbage bags and taking out the garbage

I do everything else ... seems fair to me. His parents always made him do dishes when he was growing up so he is used to it and I don't think he minds.
