Four Tips for the 4th of July
Newsletters
Now that summer's in full swing, here are four quick tips to help keep your weight loss on track:
- Eat breakfast every day: Eating breakfast will help sustain your energy and metabolism, so you'll burn more calories. A lean protein, such as egg whites, a high fiber cereal, and fruit are some good choices for your breakfast menu.
- Get some movement into your day: Not only does exercise burn calories, but it also raises your metabolism, which helps you burn more calories throughout the day. Also, studies show that exercise has the effect of lowering your caloric intake by making you feel less hungry.
- Monitor your food intake and weight: After making changes to your diet, it's very easy to lapse back into your old eating habits. Keeping a food diary helps prevent this from happening. It forces you to give conscious thought to everything you eat, helping you to change your habits for the better.
- Change unhealthy eating habits: No one eats perfectly, but you can make it a habit to continually strive to do better. Find foods in your diet that are not good for you, such as those high in fat, sugar or salt. Then make it a habit to reduce or eliminate one of these foods on a weekly basis.
Don't wait for New Year's Resolutions to improve your health and appearance. Pick a bad habit today, and declare your Independence!
